This August, enthusiastic men and women from all over will gather in Philadelphia to experience the heartfelt and intense lyrical competition called The Art of War. The Art of War Lyricist Challenge is one of the most groundbreaking events in hip hop history where the winner takes home $1000 cash. <br><br>
The brainchild of experimental hip hop artist Jalima Shani, this event showcases two spoken urban poetry forms in an entirety new light. Never before has anyone dared to pit poet against emcee, believing the realms between the genres slightly similar but vastly different. Jalima has dubbed the contest an all out extreme lyrical fest where slam poetry meets eight mile and invites you to come out to the Rotunda and experience her social experiment for yourself. <br><br>
